To make it even easier to plan your incredible summer in the city, we have collated a list of some fun-filled events and activities to enjoy near our latest developments.
Valley House, Charlton
Valley House residents are perfectly situated to take advantage of all that Charlton and the wider Greenwich borough has to offer this summer. Candlelight Open Air is an outdoor concert taking place on various dates in the grounds of the Royal Museums. The Morassi String Quartet will perform a selection of movie soundtrack favourites, while the audience is treated to views of the location’s stunning architecture illuminated by candlelight. To top the event off, all tickets include a complementary glass of prosecco to enjoy with the show.
For those eager to explore London’s history, Charlton House and Gardens can be reached in under 20 minutes on foot. The beautiful Jacobean house is one of the most impressive properties surviving from the era, and it can be explored for free! The house is situated adjacent to spectacular walled gardens and grounds, including a sensory garden designed specifically for those with visual and physical disabilities. The house is located at the western edge of Charlton Park which offers various sports pitches, table tennis tables and a children’s playground, perfect to relax and enjoy a lazy afternoon with friends or family.
Arden at Parkside and The Scene, Lewisham
Summer is the perfect season for al fresco dining and drinks in the sun. The Scene is located within walking distance of a trendy collection of bars and restaurants that line New Cross Road. The Rose Pub and Kitchen hosts a large and impressive beer garden for guests to enjoy a few quick drinks or a lengthy lunch in. The vibrant beer garden at New Cross House is also nearby, and offers delicious light and crispy pizzas cooked in the on-site pizza oven.
Lewisham is home to the Street Feast Model Market. Formerly a 1950s market, this venue has been transformed into a lively social space packed with street food retailers, bars and DJ’s. Ideal for a vibrant evening out with friends, the market hosts a variety of street food types, ensuring there is something delicious for everyone to tuck into.
For those wishing to spend their summer enjoying some leisurely retail therapy, Deptford Market Yard is located nearby. Open 7 days a week, this new market space hosts a variety of independent boutiques, restaurants and creative spaces. There are also a number of places to grab a cool drink in an afternoon or evening.
Motion, Waltham Forest
At Motion, there is plenty of opportunity to enjoy the summer sunshine. Lloyds Park is a 15-minute drive away and features spectacular views of a moat and island, as well as several formal gardens to explore. For art fanatics, the William Morris Gallery is housed in the grade II listed building to the south of the park, and is the only public gallery purely devoted to Morris’s work.
Benefitting from proximity to London’s ‘Mini-Holland’ bike network, keen cyclists at Motion can take full advantage of the plethora of cycle routes available. Lea Bridge Road is the most popular route locally, and links Hackney to Epping Forest, perfect for commuters. The Olympic Park can also be reached easily by bike, and is a lovely place to explore on a summer’s day.
For adventure seekers, Waltham Forest is not far from Go Ape at Alexandra Palace. This site combines the thrills and challenges of navigating the treetop courses, with the opportunity to capture panoramic views over the city. A trip to Alexandra Palace can easily become a whole day extravaganza, by taking advantage of the pitch and putt course and the boating lake that are also located there.
Pontoon Reach, Royal Docks
The apartments at Pontoon Reach are surrounded by the waters of the River Thames and the Royal Docks. There are plenty of opportunities to take advantage of the water this summer, for example by trying out some rowing, canoeing, sailing or even dragon boating with Royal Docks Watersports. Alternatively, WakeUp Docklands, London’s only cable wakeboard park, offers a safe space to paddleboard or wakeboard right in the heart of the city.
The picturesque nature of the Royal Docks can be appreciated from The Roof Terrace at the nearby Good Hotel, with captivating views of the London skyline, the River Thames, the Royal Victoria Dock and the O2 arena at Greenwich. Open all summer long, this spot is perfect for enjoying an afternoon coffee or meeting with friends over an evening tipple.
Thames Barrier Park, just a few minutes’ walk from the development, offers 7-hectares of green space along the Royal Docks making it the largest riverside park launched in London for over 50 years. The park boasts stunning scenes over the river, and hosts an abundance of picnic areas that are perfect for long lunches in the summer sun.
