Peabody Sweeps the Board at National Housing Awards
Peabody was crowned overall winner at the 2017 National Housing Awards, after sweeping the board with three awards wins, including ‘Best Design’, ‘Best Regeneration Project’ and ‘Best Marketing Campaign’. The prestigious awards are organised by the National Housing Federation and celebrate excellence in affordable housing.
The ‘Overall Winner’ award is presented to the organisation that the judging panel feel has succeeded in moving the home ownership industry forward. Upton Village, which includes the sensitive refurbishment of five Victorian hospital buildings as well as new-build flats and houses, won 'Best Design'. Judges commented that the scheme is a ‘great concept, brilliantly executed that should be an example for others. It demonstrates a sympathetic adaptation of a historic site, blending old and new successfully’.
Silchester, which includes 112 new mixed-tenure homes, community and retail facilities, won the top prize in the ‘Best Regeneration’ category. Located directly opposite Latimer Road tube station, the scheme is designed around a communal garden; integrating an existing 20 storey tower within a new urban block.
And finally, our integrated marketing campaign for St. John’s Hill, our flagship regeneration project opposite Clapham Junction Station, won ‘Best Marketing Campaign’. These award-winning schemes equal a combined total of almost 1,000 new homes across the boroughs of Newham, Wandsworth and Kensington & Chelsea.
