After over a year indoors, do you wish you had a home shaped to encourage positive well-being? Discover how some simple, yet effective tips can help transform your home to create vibrant spaces that promote happiness.

We worked with award winning, interior design studio, Topology at Valley House, our new development in Charlton, to demonstrate some the best way to re-style a one-bed apartment for positive health and wellbeing.

Being mindful of your surroundings and living with your wellbeing in mind can be challenging at times. However, creating a vibrant, contemporary yet peaceful space can be the most simple and effective way to inspire well-being at home; boosting a better mental state in order to make you feel happier in your own space.

Using existing furniture and a few additional purchased items, Topology designer, Athina, created a truly calm living environment at Valley House, based on a few simple techniques.

Tip #1 – Rearrange your furniture

Athina created a contemporary and comforting space, ideal for the modern first-time buyer. She re-positioned the furniture to allow potential homeowners, like you, an ultimate sense of tranquillity at home; even whilst being located within the bustling centre of South East London.

Tip #2 – Bring the outdoors in

Nature can help boost better well-being in many ways. Simply adding a few plants into your home can brighten your day and help you feel happier and more relaxed at home.

A budget friendly and easy way of designing and using your home space to the best of its abilities to promote well-being is by bringing the outdoors in. We love adding a touch of nature indoors as it can completely transform the feel of a room from a dull den into a well-being sanctuary.

Tip #3 – Reduce digital distractions

Living in the Information Age, being distracted my technology is a very common, especially when the content used is so personal. Removing digital technology from the room which you are relaxing in can help you unwind without distractions.

When it comes to creating a sense of mindfulness at home, a space free of digital distractions is perfect for the time to truly unwind and help you feel calm and ready to relax. We decided to remove the TV in the show home to ensure this sense of tranquillity as it is no longer the focal point in a living room for a health-conscious modern society.

Tip #4 – Natural light

If possible, create a layout that encourages natural light to flood into your home, so you can easily enjoy the sunshine this summer and effortless benefit from a home that promotes better well-being.

Exposure to light is also a key factor in promoting a sense of well-being at home, so ensure that you are able to easily access and enjoy views of the outdoors, taking in as much sunlight and fresh air as possible; something that the show home at Valley House was perfect for.

Tip #5 – Ditch the clutter

This can be tough, but getting rid of items that you no longer need or use and keeping items that bring you joy can not only help your living space feel cleaner but also clear your mind. Helping to not only create more space / storage in your home but also by boosting your mental health too.

Tip #6 – Pops of colour

Add pops of colour to your soft furnishings and walls, using a colour that you love can help to boost your mood and add a splash of personality to an otherwise neutral layout.
