Discover Camberwell's buzzing Arts Scene

While Camberwell is many things to many people, its dazzling arts scene is one of its most renowned and celebrated qualities. Of course, this is in no small part due to the Camberwell College of Arts on Peckham Road, which has been training the artists of the future for more than a century. Indeed, alumni include illustrator Quentin Blake, filmmaker Mike Leigh and musician Florence Welch to name a few. The college throws open its doors to the public throughout the year with a varied schedule of events and exhibitions

You can also discover the best of contemporary art at distinguished art spaces such as GX Gallery or the South London Gallery, with its regularly-changing free installations housed in an impressive Victorian space.
Camberwell’s highly anticipated arts festival has captured the imagination of locals and visitors alike since 1994 with its mix of gallery exhibition, performance and artistic workshops, inspirational talks and much more. It’s a real celebration of all things creative and design, and attracts many year-on-year.

This park is home to a wildlife garden where you can discover a variety of creatures including frogs, the resident heron, birds and even bats after dark. Take part in events throughout the year from live music to harvest festivals; plus on Fridays you can enjoy a delicious free bowl of hot soup made using tasty seasonal produce from the park’s greenhouse.
