An oasis of tranquillity in the buzzing East End

Discover how Luisa found her dream home through Shared Ownership with Peabody

Merging leafy, chilled out landscapes with the hum of London’s East End, Stonelea Gardens in Leyton is Peabody’s stylish new development with a difference. Not only does it blend the best of both worlds and offer a choice of contemporary 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments, it also includes a select number of 3 and 4-bedroom houses – a rare and much sought-after feature of Shared Ownership collections.

The tranquil development, centred on a specially created village green, has easy access to the facilities and excitement of one of the most vibrant cities in the world. All of the properties are built to exceptionally high standards and have private outdoor space, while the houses are wheelchair adaptable, with exclusive parking.

Living with two teenage sons in a 2-bedroom property in Highbury & Islington, Luisa was keen to find a bigger home for her and her family. But finding a place that suited all of the family’s needs within her budget was tricky – Luisa reveals she had been looking for a place for four years.

A subscriber to Peabody’s regular newsletters, she spotted the potential of Stonelea Gardens as soon as she read about it: “I immediately recognised its ‘wow’ factor and thought it was amazing to be able to get a house like this within my budget. I wanted a house, which is so rare with Shared Ownership, so when I saw Stonelea Gardens I got excited. It will be a great replacement and upgrade to where I’m currently living.”

“The exterior is modern but in keeping with the surrounding area. It’s a proper townhouse but also a new development. In addition, the area is lovely and so quiet, a great balance for quality of life from the busy city centre.”

Stonelea Gardens offers tranquillity whilst being well connected to the hustle and bustle of the city

The stylish and energy-efficient townhouses at Stonelea Gardens have been built to meet the needs of today’s modern family and all have generously sized private gardens and on-site exclusive parking.

Luisa says:

“The exterior is modern but in keeping with the surrounding area. It’s a proper townhouse but also a new development. In addition, the area is lovely and so quiet, a great balance for quality of life from the busy city centre.”

While peace and quiet is important for the family, Luisa needs to be close to the city for her job. She works as the MD of two digital production credit companies in London and Italy. Stonelea Gardens offered her the best of both worlds, an affordable tranquil home with great city centre links.

Although she didn’t know the area previously, she was immediately smitten the first time she visited. While it’s close to shops and “whatever you might need, it’s also surrounded by gardens and greenery.

I can imagine going to the local park and green areas with the dog and my family and friends in the summer”.

“The main thing is how big the homes are and the quality of the homes that Peabody build are amazing and always so beautifully designed.” These are “modern, peaceful, beautiful homes.”

East London has a plethora of green spaces and great transport connections to the city

The development overlooks Langthorne Park and is walking distance of several beautiful green spaces, including the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park with all of its events, recreation and sports facilities. Nestled next to charming Victorian and Regency era homes, it’s a desirable neighbourhood with great transport connections.

The Zone 3 homes have fast and frequent links to the heart of London from Leyton Station on the Central Line, as well as the Essex countryside and nearby Waltham Forest.

Luisa commented on it’s fantastic connectivity and relocating to a new area:

“The only reason I could afford this property was because it was outside central London and not in my current area. I knew my budget so I already knew where I could get the most for my money.” And she describes how thrilled she is to upgrade.

“We needed a 3-bedroom home and going from a 1 bathroom to a 3 bathroom, from a terrace roof to a proper garden, is exciting for the whole family.”

Peabody will support you every step of the way in your home buying journey

Getting ready to move in shortly, Luisa describes how her family’s quality of life will improve so much with the added privacy and space. They are already looking forward to inviting friends around and planning lots of summer BBQs. Luckily, they won’t have to do much decorating as the property they are moving into is the development’s show house, styled by award winning Suna Interior Design.

While buying her new property has been totally straightforward, the challenges of selling her old house made her appreciate the benefits of working with Peabody, going through the Shared Ownership scheme in order to be able to afford her new home.

Luisa has already recommended the development to lots of her friends, advising them to talk to Peabody:

“My advice would be to talk to them about any queries you might have as they are a fountain of knowledge.” She went on to explain further: “The biggest challenge I have faced is selling my current house. Peabody has been seamless and very approachable, compared to the company who is selling my house. It has been amazing dealing with Peabody, they are just so helpful, professional and friendly. They understand the stress of buying a house and what a big decision this is, so are always there to help you.”

Subscribing to the newsletter was also a great way to gather information on how the Shared Ownership system works, she adds.
