Enjoy live music at this Brixton brewery

Friendship Adventure is a brewery that was born, as the name suggests, thanks to a group of 4 friends. Toby is one of them and explains that their brewery is a place where craft beer lovers can gather and enjoy locally brewed beers while catching up.

The place quickly turned into much more and now hosts a vast array of nights and events. Every Monday at 6:30pm, locals can join Laura’s yoga club to feel relaxed yet energised for the rest of the week. Live music gigs are also part of the regular calendar at Friendship Adventure with jazz jams or folk artists performances. If you fancy a good old pub quiz in a more modern setting, the friends have got you covered with the monthly quiz night, for which you can book directly on their website.

The taproom is now a core part of Herne Hill’s community and partners with The Baytree Centre, a charity working to provide women and girls with workshops, mentoring and coaching. The organisation also supports newly arrived migrants and refugees. When attending the monthly quiz night, you can actually donate an extra £2 that will then be paid to the Baytree Centre.

Socialise at this craft beer tap house in Brixton

Walk 5 minutes from Higgs Yard, and you’ll find Craft Metropolis, a tap house that offers artisanal beers from all over the UK. If you want to venture into hoppy flavours from overseas, founder Oliver has got you covered with beers from the US, Poland, Sweden, Greece, and Germany. The team endeavours to source the best products from breweries at a small scale.

The pub has become a vibrant hub for locals to come together and share their hobbies. You can attend football nights or even cinema events! If you would like to set up an evening yourself or celebrate your birthday, you can even hire the space.

Discover the art of print at this historical Brixton workshop

Artichoke Print Workshop is a real institution in Loughborough Junction, as it has been around since 1992. Collin created it with his friend Melvyn after they met at the Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts (now Camberwell College of Arts). Same as Four Boroughs, the workshop is nested in the Coldharbour Works building.

The place supports artists as well as art school students and even offers apprenticeships. If you’d rather enjoy the creations and walk around the space, you can have a look around the gallery to discover the work of local printmakers and maybe find a piece to hang in your new home.

Whether you're already local to the area or fancy a complete change of scenery, you can have a look at Higgs Yard and the Shared Ownership Homes the development offers. Go ahead and register your interest to hear more about the scheme.
