Two Peabody New Homes developments have been awarded Highly Commended prizes at this year's First Time Buyer Readers’ Awards. Southmere was awarded Highly Commended for Best New Development in the South and Abbey Corner won the same award for Best Small Development. The recognition our developments received is all the more pleasing as The First Time Buyer Readers' Awards are decided by public vote, making these awards one of the most acclaimed in the industry.

The Best New Development in the South award, which Southmere was highly commended, is for the best development of any size in the South of England and is a highly competitive category recognising exceptional new homes that stand out from the crowd whilst remaining accessible to first time buyers.

Abbey Corner was recognised as an outstanding development for the Best Small Development. This prize rewards small developments that have used the best design and quality to create desirable, affordable and inspiring environments in which people wish to set up their first home. The developments that can qualify for it must have fewer than 30 homes.

Best New Development in the South - Southmere

Part of Peabody’s 30-year regeneration plan for Thamesmead, Southmere is an exciting addition to an established neighbourhood that offers the local community a new public square, state-of-the-art public library and community spaces.

The development is situated in a vibrant lakeside setting where residents have access to exclusive amenities including a landscaped podium garden, convenient concierge services, a calming residents’ lounge featuring a cosy snug space to watch films and dedicated co-working spaces.

Homes at Southmere are designed with modern fittings and integrated appliances throughout and offer outdoor spaces with open-air balconies and terraces – some of which wrap around the apartment.

Abbey Wood station on the Elizabeth line is less than a 10-minute walk away making Southmere a community-focussed development benefiting from greenspaces while offering easy access into the capital.
